(13th Congress) – Ho Chi Minh city is now proposing that the government should approve the policy of establishing Thu Duc city on the basis of merging three districts of 2, 9 and Thu Duc.
For that, from now on, the Thu Duc district Party Committee should be proactive in performing tasks if the policy receives approval.
On August 24, the 6th Thu Duc Party Congress (term 2020-2025) was held with the participation of 246 official delegates representing 9,525 party members of the whole Party Committee.
PCC member, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee, and Chairman of the city People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong attended and directed the congress.

After 5 years of realizing Resolution of the 5th Thu Duc Party Congress (term 2015-2020), the district Party Committee focused on leading, directing and issuing many programs, action programs to carry out the Resolution. Specifically, the whole political system and People of the district were determined to achieve important and comprehensive results in all fields.
There have been 13 out of 15 targets completed; 5 of which exceeded the plan, including: economic growth, budget collection, total investment capital for basic construction and urban civilization districts, reducing number of criminal cases.
Some targets are fulfilled 2 to 3 years earlier than the Resolution, such as: admitting new Party members, all medical establishments having wastewater treatment systems, and road traffic accidents reducing by 5-10%.
The district has taken advantage of its potentials and strengths to promote key industries, such as: transportation services, ports, warehousing, food processing, textile and chemical production.

In his speech at the event, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong hailed the achievements that the Party Committee, authorities and People of Thu Duc have made over the past term.
He said Thu Duc district should focus on leading and directing to make a breakthrough in the trade-services sector; striving to achieve the sector’s proportion of more than 62% in the economic structure./.
