Hoa Binh province needs to boost processing industry development

At the meeting, the delegates focused on analyzing, clarifying outstanding results, creative methods and solutions and good practices; shortcomings, limitations and analysis of causes of limitations, especially subjective causes; drawing lessons learned in the past term, as well as focusing on the views, visions and socio-economic development goals of Hoa Binh in the future.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh praised the Hoa Binh Provincial Party Committee and people for achieving important results in many aspects, creating a new face for socio-economic development; gradually shifted economic structure; transport infrastructure, especially connecting with Hanoi, with new development in quality; national defense - security; doing ethnic and religious work; and improving people's living standards.

Hoa Binh has a special position, which is the gateway of the northwestern region  connecting to the Red River Delta and the North Central regions, linking the mountains with the delta, located in the capital region connecting to Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh proposed that Hoa Binh province should evaluate the comparative advantages, natural conditions and convenient strategic position of transport connections to build and develop Hoa Binh into a place, which is worthy to live in, ensuring quality of people's lives on the basis of preserving the ecosystem, not only for Hoa Binh but also for the Red River Delta region.

Regarding development prospect in the future, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh emphasized that agriculture has an important position for Hoa Binh in particular and the region in general, contributing to ensuring people's incomes, livelihood and safety order of the locality. Developing organic agriculture, ensuring food safety and hygiene to serve the Hanoi market and neighboring localities; developing agricultural products such as fruit trees, raising pigs, chickens, fish in association with deep processing to increase added value; focusing on forest development to protect the ecosystem, intermingling short-term and long-term trees to help people ensure immediate and long-term income associated with wood processing for export; and research to attract investment businesses in developing medicinal plants with high added value under the forest canopy.

In terms of industry, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh proposed to focus on developing the processing industry of agricultural products, especially the wood processing industry, in order to maximize the value of the forests; developing building materials industry to exploit raw materials including local wood materials, developing clean energy in the direction of exploiting the potential of solar power on hydroelectric lakes as well as wind power; planning and focusing on industrial zones to ensure logistical efficiency, focusing on environmental treatment, creating development space and ensuring ecosystems.

Exploiting advantages of being near Hanoi and turning difficult terrain characteristics into advantages for tourism development, in which calling for large enterprises to invest in large-scale tourist areas, golf courses and convalescent healthcare systems, innovation centers to attract other businesses to invest in this field; develop transport infrastructure including rural transportation system to communes and districts to serve local socio-economic development.

Mr. Nguyen Van Binh suggested that the province should continue to do well ethnic and religious work, national defense and security and Party building; and focus on well preparing all aspects to successfully organize the Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term.

Mr. Bui Van Tinh, member of the Party Central Committee, the Secretary of the Hoa Binh Provincial Party Committee, respectfully received and appreciated the suggestions of the delegation. On this basis, the province continued to revise and complete the draft documents to submit to the 17th Provincial Party Congress to ensure the quality requirements, towards the goal of innovation in thinking and leadership, directing, operating and creating a strong socio-economic transition./.
