(13th Congress) - Vuong Dinh Hue, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, chaired a meeting on September 10 with agencies to discuss solutions to socio-economic development, employment and social security.

Addressing the meeting, Secretary Hue said that over the past 8 months, the city had focused on realizing the call of Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong; the directives of the Politburo, the Party Central Committee Secretariat, the Prime Minister, and the Government’s resolutions on both fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and boosting economic development.
“Hanoi’s current top priority is to focus on effectively preventing COVID-19, while well preparing activities marking the 1010th year of Thang Long – Hanoi, especially the city’s 17th Party Congress,” he said. “The capital has also drastically implemented measures to restore and develop the economy, determining to achieve a growth rate of 1.3 times higher than the national average, including the fulfillment of disbursement of public investment capital and collection of State budget revenue.”
So far, the city has approved 122 of 124 projects of 2020, of which 76 projects have been started. Twenty five of 30 districts have committed to disburse public investment capital.
Praising agencies’ efforts in boosting economic development and ensuring social security, Secretary Hue quoted initial statistics showing that the city’s GRDP in the first 8 months of this year was estimated to increase by 3.49%, 1.92 times higher than the national average.
Determining the target of the city’s economic growth rate for 2020 of 4.5-5%, he asked departments and agencies to promote solving difficulties for businesses, and review production and business plans of each area in the specific situation of the 4th quarter, striving to obtain the highest target.
Regarding State budget revenue collection, he assigned the city to collect VND260.4 trillion to the national and city budget, contributing to ensuring resources for social security and development investment.
He also urged the city People’s Committee to set up 5 inspection teams to master and solve districts’, towns’ and management boards’ problems and difficulties in realizing socio-economic development targets./.
