(13th Congress) – The Congress elected the Executive Board of the Saigon Co.op Party Committee (term 2020-2025) with 19 members and elected 3 members to attend the 11th Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress. The title of Party Secretary will be strengthened in the coming time.

On September 1, the 11th Saigon Co.op Party Congress (term 2020-2025) was held, in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, PCC member, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee, and Chairman of the city People’s Committee attended and directed the congress.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Duc, General Director of Saigon Co.op said that over the past term (2015-2020), the Party Committee of the union led business performance effectively. It developed an additional 116 stores and has so far had 849 stores in 43 provinces and cities; attracting 350,000 customer arrivals a day, up 26% compared to the beginning of the term.
Annual average revenue increased 8.2% and made up 34% of share of the country’s retail.
During the term, 446 members were admitted to the Party, fulfilling 120% of the target set by the Resolution of the Saigon Co.op Party Congress.
For the 2020-2025 term, the Party Committee set a target of building a transparent, firm and strong unit, maintaining the nature of the cooperative; boosting cooperation; effectively exploiting social resources in accordance with the Law and developing and maintaining Saigon Co.op as the leading retailer in Vietnam.
At the same time, it will develop a modern retail network in combination with developing e-commerce; have a modern logistics supply chain and change management activities in association with technology and computerization.
In his speech, Deputy Secretary Nguyen Thanh Phong hailed the achievements in realizing the Resolution of the 10th Saigon Co.op Party Congress (term 2015-2020).
He asked Saigon Co.op to focus on further promoting its role in realizing political tasks under the leadership and direction of the city Party Committee and People’s Committee; especially stabilizing the market, regulating prices and maintaining social stability, and taking care of the lives of local people.
The union should actively renew contents and leadership methods of the Party Committee to suit with the specific type of Party organizations in the Union, he added.
He also urged the Saigon Union of Trading Co-operatives (Saigon Co.op) to strive to maintain its position as the leading retailer in Vietnam. He believed that the union was able to compete internationally and strive to be in the Top 100 of the world's leading cooperatives./.
