Ambassador Hadi congratulates Vietnam on the successful role as ASEAN Chair 2020

On December 3, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi paid a farewell visit to Madame Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Vice President of Vietnam, at the Presidential Palace.

The 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to Indonesia and President Soekarno’s visit to Vietnam and the 65th anniversary of Indonesia-Vietnam’s diplomatic relations are important activities in strengthening relations between the two countries. The Vice President also congratulated the ambassador on the awarding of the Friendship Order from the President of Vietnam as well as the Medal for Peace and Friendship Among Nations from Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.

For his part, Ambassador Hadi praised the significant role of the Vice President in strengthening bilateral relations of Indonesia and Vietnam, including Madame Thinh’s visit to Jakarta to attend the inauguration of President Joko Widodo in October 2019. The ambassador expressed his honor to serve in Vietnam and advance the strategic partnership of the two countries. He was impressed to witness Vietnam’s growth in the last five years and he will always consider Vietnam as his second home.

On the occasion, Ambassador Hadi also congratulated Vietnam on the successful role as the ASEAN Chair 2020 and as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council as well as on its accomplishment in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ambassador Hadi said that he would finish his term and return to Indonesia in mid-December. The ambassador also expressed his hope that Vietnam’s upcoming 13th National Party Congress will be a success, helping Vietnam to advance firmly in achieving its national objectives. 

At the end of the meeting, the Vice President expressed her hope that even though his term would soon end, Ambassador Hadi will continue to contribute to strengthening friendly relations between Indonesia and Vietnam./.
