Hundreds of thousands of children supported

According to the NFVC, the capital was used for health checks; surgeries correcting congenital heart, mouth and eye abnormalities; building schools and boarding houses; and supporting scholarships, nutrition and bridges to schools for children in areas hit by natural disasters, floods and those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the press briefing, MOLISA Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha said that the ministry would organize the 14th “Spring for Children” program, in order to bring significant presents to poor and disadvantaged children.

Held annually by the NFVC, over the past 13 years, the program has mobilized over VND1.2 trillion and supported nearly 1 million children by providing scholarships, safe water, corrective surgery for congenital heart disease, eye and mouth abnormalities, schools and boarding houses for children in disadvantaged and mountainous regions; assisting orphans and homeless children; and rescuing those in natural disaster- and pandemic-affected regions.

The 14th program is expected to mobilize some VND100 billion from organizations, individuals, businesses and sponsors./.
