Exchanging with architects, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue said that Hanoi is a special city, a political and national administrative centre, a big center of culture, science and education, economic and international transactions. Over the past years, the Hanoi Party Committee has been very interested in leading and directing urban planning and development, however, the results have not been achieved as expected.

Currently, the urbanization rate in Hanoi is only approximately 60%; in which, the urbanization rate in many districts in the city is still very low, for example, Thuong Tin district is only 2.86%. The percentage of area covered by the general planning and subdivision planning of the city so far has only reached about 86%. Moreover, urban development in Hanoi has not yet linked to urban economic development; new-style rural building standards have not been associated with urban development.

In order to overcome the aforementioned limitations, the 17th Hanoi Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term has decided new issues related to planning, planning management and urban development.

Accordingly, in the new term, apart from continuing to focus on building a new-style rural area to a new height, the Hanoi Party Committee will build a program of urban development associated with urban economy; overcoming limitations of visions, tools and policies related to urban development planning; and promoting urban development to create driving force for economic growth.

The Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee asked the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association, the Hanoi Urban Planning and Development Association, and architects to participate in making plans, contributing more to urban development planning of the city.

Architect Tran Ngoc Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association, was very happy when the 17th Hanoi Party Congress took place successfully and had important resolutions on urban development planning with foresight, innovative thinking and high responsibility.

Members from the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association and the Hanoi Urban Planning and Development Association always give special affection, enthusiasm and responsibility to the urban development of Hanoi, hoping to accompany, participate in cooperation, and contribute to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Hanoi Party Congress to build a green, civilized and modern capital.

According to the plan, the 5th Congress of the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association for the 2020-2025 term will take place at the end of October and the beginning of November in Hanoi. Architect Tran Ngoc Chinh said that one of the important contents mentioned at this congress is how to make the association participate and be more responsible for the urban development planning of the capital, the face of the nation, the heart of the country./.
