Hanoi announces 160 candidates running for seats in People’s Council

On April 28, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Chairman of the city People’s Council, and President of the city Election Committee, signed Decision 86/QD-UBBC announcing the list of official candidates to be elected as deputies of the Hanoi People’s Council for the 2021-2026 term.

The list was made on the basis of Decision 14/QD-UBBC dated February 19, 2021 of the city Election Committee on fixing the number of constituencies, the list of units, and the number of deputies to be elected in each constituency for the Hanoi People’s Council for the 2021-2026 term.

Accordingly, the 160 candidates will be divided into 30 constituencies, to elect 95 candidates.

Earlier, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hanoi organized the third consultative conference, and selected the list of 160 candidates with 100% confidence for the city People’s Council, including one self-nominated candidate.

Of the total, 27 (16.87%) candidates are professors, associate professors, or doctors; 81 (50.62%) are masters; and 49 (30.62%) have graduated from universities and colleges is .

Regarding structure, 62 are women (38.75%); 53 are re-elected candidates (33.13%); 4 belong to ethnic minorities (2.5%); 4 belong to religions (2.5%); and 23 are non-Party members (14.38%)./.
