Over 900,000 voters in Thu Duc city to join election

So far, Thu Duc city and 5 districts of Binh Chanh, Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, Can Gio and Nha Be have completed the first consultation meeting. In which, Thu Duc city has 40 elected people council deputies, 67 candidates, and 13 election units.

According to Chairman of Thu Duc City People's Council Nguyen Phuoc Hung, this election will increase polling stations from 346 points to about 400 points due to having many new residential areas. The total number of voters in Thu Duc city is about 907,000, a polling station has an average of 70,000 voters. In addition to the list of 67 candidates, Thu Duc city has 14 alternate candidates, who can be supplemented and replaced during the election implementation process.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, noted that from March 1 to 11, meetings for voters will be held. The Ho Chi Minh City Election Committee will receive dossiers of candidates for deputies of the NA and city People's Council until the deadline of March 4.

In this time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels will hold the second consultation meeting. Until March 18, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee will supervise consultation steps to ensure efficiency and compliance with the law.

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council suggested Election Committees at all levels must ensure the settlement of complaints, petitions and denunciations about wrongdoings during the process of listing candidates. Thu Duc city and districts need to pay attention to and scrutinize the number of voters in various fields and occupations.

Thu Duc city and most districts have industrial zones and export processing zones. It must grasp very carefully voters, who are workers. Thu Duc city also has universities, which has student voters. Therefore, the city must strictly manage the number of these voters to well perform the election work./.
