This year, the Government, all levels, departments and localities have been proactive in realizing the National Target Program on New-style Rural Areas Development and mobilizing social resources for the program, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The country has so far had 5,506 communes (62%) meeting new-style rural area standards, an increase of 8% compared to the end of 2019; 12 provinces and cities have 100% of communes recognized as new-style rural areas.
On average, the country has achieved 16.38 criteria per commune, up 0.72 criteria against 2019. Three provinces: Nam Dinh, Dong Nai and Hung Yen were recognized to complete the task of building new-style rural areas.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that during the 2021-2025 period, the country strives to have at least 15 more provinces recognized by the Government leader to complete the task of building new-style rural areas; including one provinces in the Northern mountainous region, 8 in the Red River Delta, 1 in the South Central, 1 in the North Central, 1 in the Central Highlands, 4 in the Southeast, and 4 in the Mekong River Delta./.
