Capital city intensifies fight against COVID-19

Previously, on May 27, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung called on sponsorship for the target of vaccination for people in the whole city. "More than ever, the city needs the support of sponsors, especially businesses and entrepreneurs who always have social responsibility and a high sense of patriotism,” he said in the appeal. “This is not only love and golden hearts, but also the businesses’ responsibility, for the benefit of businesses themselves.”

With a population of about 10 million people, Hanoi needs more than VND1,000 billion to carry out the first round of free COVID-19 vaccinations for the whole population.

From January 1 to May 31, the City Fatherland Front Committee received registration and support of VND68.8 billion. In which, VND65.1 billion is in cash and VND3.7 billion in goods. It has also organized support for the pandemic prevention and control forces of hospitals, medical centers, isolation areas and localities, as well as in Hai Duong province.

During the sponsor ceremony, business representatives showed their determination to be ready to accompany the city’s authority to speed up the process of vaccination against COVID-19 to push back the pandemic. They also made a commitment not to disrupt production and business, joining hands with the city to effectively implement socio-economic development goals and tasks in 2021.

Chairwoman of the Hanoi Fatherland Front Nguyen Lan Huong recognized and appreciated the noble deed of agencies, organizations, businesses and benefactors for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In the coming time, as the pandemic situation is forecast to develop complicatedly, the City Fatherland Front hopes to receive continued support from businesses and benefactors, contributing to preventing and pushing back COVID-19,” she said./.
