Promoting strength of overseas Vietnamese entrepreneur community

The event offered opportunities for overseas businesspeople and entrepreneurs cooperating, investing and doing business in Ho Chi Minh City to meet, exchange experiences and cooperate in various fields; including connecting and promoting trade to bring Vietnamese goods abroad.

In his speech at the event, Mr. Le Thanh Liem, Standing Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee, said that the southern hub has power and great resources of 10 million people, more than 350,000 entrepreneurs and connections with millions of overseas Vietnamese living in many countries and territories. That is the talent, the strength of the locality. In 2020, overseas remittances flow to the city is expected to reach about USD5.5 billion.

At the meeting, delegates shared their experience in business development and trade promotion; especially the promotion of Vietnamese goods in the global market, particularly after the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) took effect on August 1.

In addition, they also discussed opportunities and challenges of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in Europe.

A number of memorandums of understanding for strategic cooperation were signed between Vietnam-Korea Businessmen and Investment Association (VKBIA) and the Republic of Korea’s Megazone and Shinhan Group, Hoang Quang Group and MHGroup.

On this occasion, Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City Phung Cong Dung presented the Certificate of Merit to the VKBIA for its excellent performance in consulting, connecting  trade with overseas businesspeople and entrepreneurs around the world, contributing to building and developing the southern hub./.
