Mr. Phan Viet Cuong was re-elected as Secretary of the 12th provincial Party Committee. Mr. Le Van Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary and Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, were re-elected as Deputy Secretaries.

Mr. Phan Viet Cuong is 57 years old. He was born in Dai Dong commune, Dai Loc district, Quang Nam province. He has a master in economics. He used to be Deputy Chief Inspector of the Quang Nam Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Tay Giang district Party Committee, Chief Inspector, and Head of the Quang Nam Party Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs. In September 2015, he was elected Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and then Secretary in January 2019.

Speaking at the event, Politburo member, PCC Secretary and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai stressed that in the 2015-2020 period, Quang Nam achieved economic growth of 9.53%, putting it among provinces and cities with high growth rate. Its per capita income reached VND72.4 million, a 1.7 fold increase compared to 2015 and higher than the country’s average rate.

Over the past 5 years, Quang Nam collected more than VND100 trillion to state budget while domestic collection increased 9%. With this, the locality has balanced revenue and expenditure since 2017. This is an impressive result, said Ms. Mai.

Economic structure and labour structure have shifted significantly, with agriculture just making up 11% of GDP. Quang Nam’s labor productivity is approximately equal to the average rate of the country. Its competitiveness index has been in the Top 10 since 2016 and inched up to 6^th in 2019./.
