Accordingly, the 16th Bac Lieu Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term will take place over three days, from October 14-16 at the Hall of the Provincial Cultural Centre in Bac Lieu city of Bac Lieu province with the participation of 317 official delegates.

The 16th Bac Lieu Provincial Party Congress will review the implementation of the Resolution of the 15th Provincial Party Congress for the 2015 – 2020 term, as well as reviewing the leadership and direction of the Executive Board and the Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee over the past term; identify orientations, targets, tasks and solutions for the 2020 – 2025 term; discuss and contribute ideas to draft documents of the 13th National Party Congress; elect the Executive Board of the 16th Provincial Party Committee for the 2020 – 2025 term; and elect a delegation to attend the 13th National Party Congress.

The Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Popularization and Education informed that the Political Report Draft, which will be submitted to the 16th Provincial Party Congress has been prepared seriously, meticulously and thoughtfully; organized to collect ideas from departments, ministries, sectors at central levels, Party committees under the Provincial Party Committee, scientists, retired cadres, artists, intellectuals, religious dignitaries, and people of all classes in the province, and it has been approved by the Politburo and the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee.

The Political Report Draft comprehensively evaluates and highlights the results of the implementation of the Resolution of the 15th Provincial Party Congress, the limitations and shortcomings; to specify reasons and draw lessons learned in leadership and direction; set out goals, tasks and solutions to develop the province of Bac Lieu in the period of 2020 – 2025, which expresses the aspirations, efforts and high determination of the Party Committee, the army and people of the province during the next period.

Over the past term, all 20/20 socio-economic targets set by the resolution of the 15th Provincial Party Congress have been achieved and exceeded. Five of the targets have been ranked in the group of good provinces in the Mekong Delta.

The average economic growth the province maintained for the 2015-2020 period reached over 7%/year, exceeding the target set by the Resolution; per capita GRDP is nearly 59 million VND/person, an increase of more than 1.8 times compared to 2015; the total social investment capital is estimated at 28,500 billion VND, and the average growth rate is over 21%, exceeding the target set by the resolution.

Accordingly, the Political Report Draft also sets out three groups of tasks and solutions for: economic, cultural and social development; national defense and security; and the Party and political system building.

By 2025, Bac Lieu province will be recognized as a new-style rural province, with 15/49 communes meeting standards of model new style rural communes and the province’s economic scale will increase from 2 to 2.5 times compared to 2020./.
