Indian festival marked in southern hub

Addressing the festival, Indian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City Madan Mohan Sethi said that the festival is an important one for farmers in southern India and northern Sri Lanka. “Called by other names, like Bihu and Makar Sakranti, the festival is welcomed across India,” he said.

Organized in early spring, the festival aims to thank the God of the Sun for helping the season be full of happiness, wealth and prosperity./.
