She made the statement during her attendance at the province’s 6th emulation congress term 2020-2025.

Addressing the congress, she said that the province should focus on turning tourism and agriculture into spearhead economic sectors. “It should also mobilize resources to develop socio-economic infrastructure, especially the traffic system linking with the northern key economic regions; further increase implementation of poverty reduction policies to narrow the gap between the rich and poor, which is relatively high now,” she added.

She also urged the province to firmly protect the national border sovereignty and strive to become a province of fairly good development in the northern mountainous region.

According to Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, over the past 5 years, Ha Giang had reported an economic growth rate of 6.85% per year on average, with income per capita of VND30 million in 2020, an increase of 57.4% compared to 2015; and poverty rate reducing to 22.53%.

On this occasion, the Vice State President and sponsors presented the province with VND4.5 billion to build bridges, classrooms and payment of gratitude houses; and granted scholarships to poor pupils with excellent academic results./.
