As of February 17, all of the 63 provinces and cities completed the first consultation meetings.

The 1,045 candidates more than doubled the number of elected deputies, which are expected to reach 500.

According to the Deputy Head of the VFF Department of Democracy – Law, the inspection of election work has focused on supervising the establishment and operation of the national election council and election organizations at localities; and checking the introduction of candidates and the submission of candidates’ profiles.

After the first consultation meetings, the VFF suggested maintaining the number of candidates from the VFF block as in the 14th NA, increasing the number of candidates who are non-Party members, and ensuring the number of female deputies reach at least 35% of the total candidates.

The VFF also asked for attention to the deputies representing businesses, intellectuals and scientists, as it said they are from important sectors for national integration and development./.
