LAK80 million in support of Vietnamese flood victims

Vietnamese General Consul to Laos in Luang Prabang Nguyen Dang Hung on November 11 received LAK80 million from Somchit Panyasack, Deputy Chief of Oudomxay province, as the province’s assistance to Vietnamese flood victims. 

Receiving Mr. Somchit Panyasack, General Consul Nguyen Dang Hung, expressed his thanks to the Lao province’s support, informing of Vietnam’s socio-economic development as well as the situation about the natural disasters in Vietnam.

He confirmed the money will be soon transferred back to Vietnam to send to the people in the central region.

At the meeting, Mr. Somchit Panyasack said that despite the province’s difficulties, hearing of diverse storms leaving serious consequences on Vietnamese people’s lives, Oudomxay Party Committee, authority and people called on the assistance for Vietnamese natural disaster-affected people.

“The money is Oudomxay province’s affection and heart in sharing difficulties with Vietnamese people,” he said.

He wished the authorities and people of the central provinces of Vietnam to soon overcome the consequences of the floods and stabilize their lives.

Oudomxay is a province with close relationships with many Vietnamese provinces. Earlier in April, after the outbreak of COVID-19 in Vietnam, Oudomxay province donated LAK50 million to the 10 Vietnamese localities of Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Hai Phong, Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho for use in pandemic prevention and control.

As one of the three Vietnamese Consulates General in Laos, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang covers eight northern Lao localities of Bokeo, Luang Namtha, Oudomxay, Xayaburi, Phongsaly, Houaphanh, Xiengkhouang and Luang Prabang. These provinces all have cultural, social and economic cooperation relations with Vietnam, many of them have set up twinned relationships with northeastern Vietnamese localities./.
