(13th Congress) - The Vietnamese community in Bangladesh organized a ceremony to make debut its Liaison Committee, including five members at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in the country on November 6.
The Head of the Liaison Committee is Do Van Trong, who is a businessman in Bangladesh for many years and is prestigious and enthusiastic about common activities of the Vietnamese community in the country.
At the debut ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Viet Chien congratulated the community and highly appreciated the tradition of unity and mutual support of the Vietnamese community in Bangladesh, as well as support of the community for the embassy in community affairs and citizen protection.
The ambassador believed that the Liaison Committee will operate effectively and will be a key factor to connect and build the strong Vietnamese community in Bangladesh, and preserve and promote the image of the country, people and culture of Vietnam to Bangladeshi friends.
Mr. Chien asked the Liaison Committee to pay due attention to organizing activities for the second generation of Vietnamese people in Bangladesh to maintain the culture and national identity of Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Tran Thien Le Vy, a Vietnamese citizen living in Bangladesh for nearly 20 years and an active member of the Liaison Committee, shared that the establishment of the committee met a long-held desire of the Vietnamese community, especially for those who have lived for a long time in Bangladesh, to connect, exchange, share and together look toward the homeland.
On this occasion, the Liaison Committee and Ambassador Pham Viet Chien launched a donation program to support residents in Central Vietnam heavily affected by natural disasters and floods in recent time./.
