(13th Congress) – Five hundreds collectives and individuals who had made excellent achievements in emulation campaigns in the 2015-2020 period in Hai Phong city were awarded flags of emulation and certificates of merit during the city’s patriotic emulation congress held on November 9.

Addressing the congress, Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of the city People’s Committee, said that in the 2015-2020 period, the city’s emulation movements had been realized with renewal in contents and methods, for implementing 4 key movements launched by the Prime Minister, including the ones on building new style rural areas, Vietnamese businesses of integration and development, the whole country joining hands for the poor, and cadres and officers realizing office culture.
“Notable is the movement in building new style rural areas,” he said. “As of late 2019, 100% of the communes and districts meet the criteria of the program, with the capital mobilized at nearly VND40.4 trillion, an increase of 2.5 times compared to the 2010-2015 period.”
Attending the congress, Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, Party Central Committee member and Vice State President, said the city should focus its development in the pillars of hi-tech industry, sea-based economy, seaports and tourism, and trade.
She also requested the city to care for boosting poverty reduction; improving people’s spiritual and material lives; further developing high quality healthcare and education; reinforcing security and defence; and building new cultural lifestyles in connection with smart urban areas.
“The city should focus on building the pure and strong Party and political system, so that it can become a modern industrial city of sustainable development, a deserving city of Southeast Asia,” she said./.
