According to the provincial leaders’ report, in October, the province suffered from 5 successive severe floods, killing 50 people, leaving4 others missing, destroying 285 houses and diverse traffic, healthcare and educational infrastructure, and causing a loss of over VND2 trillion.

Speaking during a meeting with the provincial leaders, Ms Mai appreciated the province’s efforts and solidarity in helping residents overcome difficulties, resume production and stabilize their lives. “The Government has been issuing prompt policies for assisting natural disaster-hit localities to have more resources for overcoming the consequences,” she added.

Stressing that the most important current task was to care for people’s lives, she requested that the most seriously affected people must receive help first. “As the storm season continue in central localities, Quang Tri province should work out continued scientific and creative measures to cope with natural disasters, especially evacuation of people to safe places to minimize loss in human life and property,” she said, urging the province to promptly repair and reopen schools, prepare enough medicine for health stations to deal with any possible diseases after the floods, and quickly distribute breeding stock for farmers’ production.

On this occasion, she presented 100 presents to seriously affected families in Cam Tuyen commune, Cam Lo district./.
