Secretary of Hanoi City Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue wishes diplomatic agencies, Ambassadors, General Consulates and Heads of Vietnamese representative missions abroad to continue to strengthen their support and coordination with Hanoi in foreign affairs, organizing political, economic, cultural and diplomatic events in the area.
At the reception, Hanoi City People's Committee Chairman Chu Ngoc Anh informed about the socio-economic situation and orientation, development plan, investment, trade and tourism attraction policies of Hanoi City. Accordingly, over the past years, the capital's economy has achieved a high growth rate, on average in the 2016-2019 period the GRDP increased by 7.39%. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city has made efforts to prevent the epidemic while continuing economic development. As a result, from January to September of 2020, Hanoi's GRDP increased by 3.27%, 1.54 times higher than the national growth rate. The whole city has attracted 142.4 trillion VND of domestic investment; 22,500 newly established enterprises have registered capital of 288.7 trillion VND.
Hanoi has always been one of the leading localities in the country in attracting FDI. So far, the valid FDI is 47.7 billion USD, disbursed capital is about 28.5 billion USD. Hanoi ranked second nationwide with 19.4% of projects; 10.2% of registered investment capital and 8.4% of disbursed capital. In particular, in 2018-2019, the City consecutively led the country in attracting FDI with registered capital of 7.5 billion USD (in 2018) and 8.7 billion USD (in 2019).
In terms of foreign affairs, Hanoi has had friendly relations and cooperation with more than 100 cities and national capitals, and is a member of many prestigious international organizations. The city identified 94 overseas Vietnamese representations as the "extended arms" of the country and of Vietnamese enterprises. Therefore, in the coming time, Hanoi wants the newly appointed Ambassadors, Consul Generals and Heads of the new representative agencies to continue to be companions and messengers of Hanoi, and closely coordinate and support Hanoi city in promoting its relationships in the international community.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Hanoi Chu Ngoc Anh wishes the Ambassadors, Consul Generals and Heads of Representative Offices to strengthen coordination and promote the image of Hanoi capital; coordinate to promote cooperation promotion to attract investment, trade and tourism with other countries; and create mechanisms for exchanging information, supporting two-way implementation between the City's agencies and the Vietnamese embassies in foreign countries in order to implement effective promotion programs.
Representatives of heads of overseas Vietnamese representative agencies, representatives of departments and agencies in Hanoi shared information and recommendations on cooperation directions in the future. Representatives of overseas Vietnamese representative missions expressed confidence in Hanoi's development plans, and pledged to support this effort as much as possible.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the system of 94 overseas Vietnamese representative agencies are ready to assist Hanoi City with market information and to connect foreign partners; to assist in arranging delegations of government leaders, ministries, branches, localities and foreign enterprises to visit and work in Hanoi; arrange well visits by city leaders to other countries; and to support the promotion of Hanoi's unique cultural potential to popularize the city’s image./.
