(13th Congress) - Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, during his meeting with the Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee on October 22, said that the Government had decided to allocate VND500 billion to severely flood-affected provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien – Hue and Quang Nam for carrying out rescue and social welfare work.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Government will also distribute 1,000 tons of rice, together with medicine and disinfectant materials to each of the provinces affected by the flooding.
Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, Deputy Minister of National Defence, said that the ministry had allocated 22 tons of dry provisions to central provinces. In Quang Tri alone, the army forces have supported it with 7 motor boats, 36 generators, 3 water pumps and 1,000 life buoys.
“Due to the extremely serious damage in Quang Tri, the Government has also assisted it with an additional VND40 billion,” said Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) will mobilize seedlings plants and animals, and send a delegation of plantation, breeding and aquaculture experts to central provinces to help them restore agricultural production, according to MARD Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong.
Additionally, the Ministry of Transport will work with the Ministry of National Defence to restore north-south travel.
Statistics show that so far, severe floods have killed 111 and left 28 people missing, destroyed 7,500 hectares of crops, and swept away 6,000 animals./.
