Deputy PM assigns tasks to northern province

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that it was necessary for Thai Nguyen province to focus on developing high-tech industries with competitive advantages, environment friendly, economical use of land and human resources, and creating budget revenue. “Priorities should be put on key industries, high technology industries, supporting industries, electronics and information industry, and deep processing of precious metals,” he said. “It should also concentrate resources on developing infrastructure of industrial zone clusters the southern part of the province to attract investment, and make good use of the advantages of national roads connecting with Hanoi.”

Urging the province to continue to restructure the agricultural sector in the direction of increasing added value and developing sustainably, he said that the production should be safe by carrying out organic agriculture and applying high technology in production; promoting links between the production-processing and consumption of products; heightening the trademark of Thai Nguyen tea; and making tourism an important sector of the province.

Being home to industrial zones and many workers, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said that Thai Nguyen needed to well develop housing for workers and low-income people; prevent fire at industrial zones; actively fight crime and social evils; and ensure safe and convenient environment for investment attraction and socio-economic development.

Regarding Party building, he suggested that Thai Nguyen should strengthen inspection and supervision, and uphold Party discipline.

The Thai Nguyen provincial 20th Party Congress lasted from October 11-13 with 350 official delegates, representing over 93,000 Party members in the province.

Nguyen Thanh Hai, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, was re-elected Secretary of the provincial Party Committee term 2020-2025./.
