The information was announced on April 19 during a press conference for the project launching of “Building Da Nang – an environmental city period 2021-2030”.

During the press conference, Mr. To Van Hung, Director of the City Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said that in 2008, the city’s development of an environmental city project marked its creative decision and high determination to realize the desire to become a green, clean and beautiful city even in difficult economic conditions.

After 12 years, Da Nang has achieved encouraging results, including urban water supply of 99%, 100% of wastewater in industrial zones collected, treated, and monitored automatically and continuously; basically solving 13 of 15 environmental pollution spots; more than 83% of urban household wastewater collected and treated; and household waste collection reaching 95%.

As a result, Da Nang City has won many awards, such as an environmentally sustainable city, a low carbon city, a landscape city and a national green city, and more importantly, Da Nang has built the brand of a worth-living city.

In order to continue to promote the achieved results, and continue to build the image of "an environmental city", Da Nang has developed and issued the project "Building Da Nang – an environmental city" for the period of 2021-2030, which includes 4 key components of pollution prevention and control; improvement of the environment quality; conservation of nature and biodiversity; and increase of capacity and raising of awareness on environmental protection.

Accordingly, the province will combine environmental protection with planning strategies and socio-economic development plans, accelerating administrative procedure reform and the application of the fourth industrial revolution; proactively preventing and controlling pollution, solving urgent key environmental problems; overcoming environmental pollution, environmental degradation, proactively responding to climate change; and mobilizing resources in the community to protect the environment./.
