Before being appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the People's Army of Vietnam, Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang was a member of the Party Central Committee, a member of the Central Military Commission, and the Political Commissar of Military Region 9.
Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang was born in 1965, in Tan Thanh commune, Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province. He used to be Commander of Regiment 3, then Commander of Division 330 – Military Region 9.
In 2014, he was appointed Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 9. In August 2015, he was appointed Secretary of Party Committee, Political Commissar of Military Region 9, and promoted to the rank of Major General.
On January 26, 2016, he was elected member of the 12th Party Central Committee. In September 2019, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General by the State President./.
