Speaking at the opening session, on behalf of the NA Standing Committee, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan acknowledged and appreciated the results of socio-economic development in Phu Tho Province over the past year.

During which, 11 out of 12 socio-economic indicators reached and exceeded the plan, the economic growth rate reached 3.4%, and budget revenue was estimated at more than VND7.5 trillion. The Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) of Phu Tho ranked 26th out of 63 provinces and cities while the new style rural building programme completed its set target three years ahead of schedule.

NA Chairwoman Ngan asked Phu Tho to continue focusing on thoroughly grasping and creating a synchronous unity in awareness and action of both the political system and people from all walks of life to effectively implement tasks and groups of solutions set out in the Resolution of the 19th Phu Tho Provincial Party Congress; as well as to join the whole country to effectively control the COVID-19 epidemic in addition to promoting socio-economic development.

In addition, the province should continue to improve the business investment environment, focus on solving bottlenecks and shortcomings to create a favourable business and investment environment for investors and enterprises; as well as pay attention to synchronous economic development together with cultural and social development.

Phu Tho was also urged to effectively implement the national target programme on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the 2021-2030 period; and to focus on developing clean industries while contributing to sustainable development./.
