(13th Congress) - Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC Commission on Organization, on May 6 worked with the northern province of Hoa Binh on its preparations for election of deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels, term 2021-2026.

During the working meeting, Bui Duc Hinh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, said that the preparations had been made thoroughly, together with the province’s implementation of the target of both boosting socio-economic development and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to representatives from the Provincial People’s Council, in 2020, the province reported a GRDP growth of 3.59%, annual income per capita of VND63.8 million per year, and the provincial competitiveness index increasing 4 rankings compared to 2019.
Regarding COVID-19 prevention, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Khanh noted that since the beginning of this year, the province has issued a wide range of documents to direct and mobilise the whole political system to join the fight against the pandemic. As of May 5, the province had secured all 26 COVID-19 patients.
To realize the goal of helping the province’s economy develop at the average level of the country and gradually improving people’s living standard, Ngo Van Tuan, Secretary of the Provincial People’s Party, stated that the province will focus on carrying out 4 breakthroughs in terms of planning; improvement of investment environment and administrative reform; development of infrastructure and high quality human resources; and increasing development in some cultural issues, community tourism, safe agricultural production and expansion of industrial zones and parks.
Concluding the meeting, Ms Mai suggested that the province should make plans for candidates of the election meeting with voters suiting the context of COVID-19 prevention; well control the pandemic; and increase dissemination on both the election and COVID-19 prevention.
Mentioning Party building, she stressed that the province must pay attention to fostering and increasing the quality of ethnic minority cadres; and develop the action plans for the realization of the 13th National Party Congress resolution./.
