(13th Congress) - With 99.13 of votes in favour, Nguyen Anh Tuan, Permanent Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Youth Federation, was elected First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union term XI in the 2017-2022 period.

The election was carried out during a meeting of the Youth Union Executive Committee on November 11.
Attending the meeting, Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC Commission of Mass Mobilization, congratulated the newly-elected First Secretary, urging him to make all efforts to fulfill the assigned tasks.
The First Secretary pledged to continue to promote the great results of predecessors.
Born in 1979, the new First Secretary of the Youth Union used to work at the National Economics University before taking different positions at the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee. He has senior political level, a graduate degree of banking and financial market, and a doctoral degree of economic management./.
