Ho Chi Minh city sets targets for new term

According to the draft report, from 2015 to 2020, the city’s political stability has been ensured, and its economy has grown well with gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increasing by 8.3% per year on average.

The city’s economic proportion in the country's economy continued to increase, to nearly 23% of the national GDP in 2020, affirming its leading economic position in the region and the country. Meanwhile, residents’ social life and living standard have continuously improved.

In the next 5 years, the Southern hub targets to become a highly-spread economic, cultural, educational - training and scientific-technological center of the whole country and the Southeast Asia region.

Remarkably, it will strive to obtain average annual GRDP growth of 8.5%; and GRDP per capita of over USD8,500 by 2025.

To achieve these goals, the city Party Committee has put forth 4 development programs, including a breakthrough program on management innovation; breakthrough in infrastructure development; breakthrough in human and cultural development; and the key program on the development of startup businesses and the development of the city's key products.

The draft report will continue to be discussed at Party Congresses at different levels until October and throughout 4 phases of completion./.
