(13th Congress) - Vuong Dinh Hue, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, on March 2 paid a working visit to the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center, and inspected some construction projects serving the SEA Games 31.

There are currently 8 construction projects serving the event managed by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, and 12 managed by districts.
Hanoi Party Committee Secretary Vuong Dinh Hue appreciated sports units’ efforts to practice and gain high prizes while carrying out preparative work for SEA Games 31.
He requested the city People’s Committee and the city Department of Culture and Sports to work with relevant agencies to accelerate facility upgrades and repairs to serve training of athletes.
He also asked for suitable mechanisms and policies for recruiting foreign coaches and experts, selecting talented athletes and caring for athletes.
Urging departments to carry out the work, he stressed that the upgrade of facilities first served SEA Games 31, then contributed to realizing the targets on boosting sports development set in the city’s 17th Party Committee resolution.
According to Tran Thi Van Anh, Vice Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Hanoi is striving to contribute 30% of the country’s athletes competing at the SEA Games 31 and over 30% of medals for the Vietnamese sports delegation. Regarding preparations for coaches and athletes, she said that so far 38 coaches and 168 athletes for 20 sports had gathered for the event.
SEA Games 31 will take place from November 21 to December 2 in Hanoi and some surrounding localities, including Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho and Bac Giang. The official competition program at the event includes 40 sports. The My Dinh National Stadium will host the event’s important ceremonies, including the opening ceremony and the semi-final and final men’s football match.
Last November, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism worked with the Hanoi People’s Committee to organize the warm-up ceremony for SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11./.
