Hundreds of billions of VND donated to help victims of natural disasters

According to Tran Thanh Man, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and VFF President, at the central level, as of November 24, the Central Relief Board had received over VND76.5 trillion in cash and exhibits in donations, with over VND73.5 trillion having been disbursed.

Successive floods and storms have left serious negative impacts on people’s lives in the central and Central Highlands regions. Figures from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) show that, in November alone, storms, floods and landslides in some localities left 104 people dead or missing, injured 388 others; destroyed nearly 252,000 houses; killed 5,600 animals and 1.5 million poultry; and ruined 66,700 hectares of rice and 35,400 hectares of vegetables, causing losses of VND18.7 trillion.  

Since the beginning of the year, natural disasters killed or left missing 372 people, injured 1,144 others; destroyed 4,132 houses and damaged 613,300 others; destroyed 267,000 hectares of rice and 132,500 hectares of vegetables, reporting loss of VND38.4 trillion./.
