According to the General Department of Customs, computers, electronic products and components are the group of exports that rose to the top in the first half of this month, surpassing phones and components. The remaining 2 commodity groups are machinery and equipment; and textile.

From the beginning of the year to March 15, the country's export turnover reached more than USD62 billion, an increase of more than USD11 billion compared to the same period in 2020, a growth rate of nearly 22.7%.

Meanwhile, the import turnover in the first half of this month is more than USD13 billion, bringing the total turnover to nearly USD60.2 billion.

With the above results, Vietnam still maintains a large trade surplus of nearly USD2 billion.

From the beginning of the year up to now, the import and export of goods has continuously shown good signs. At the regular meeting of the Government in February, the Minister of Industry and Trade has set the export growth target of 2021 to be about 4-5%. These are the results that have been calculated based on real world economic fluctuations as well as the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Import and Export Department, said that to support import and export businesses, at present, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is considering submitting to the Prime Minister a new strategy on import and export activities in the coming period, defining a new direction in the context that the world has undergone many changes in terms of international business environment, geographical factors and natural factors, as well as factors of production, and the impact of science and technology.

In addition, the ministry will continue to negotiate and improve institutions related to free trade agreements, helping businesses better take advantage of the agreements. Trade promotion activities as well as export promotion in the online environment will also be promoted./.
