Speaking at the virtually held hand-over ceremony in Hanoi and Vientiane, PM Phuc said the donation was made in line with the Vietnam-Laos special solidarity. He also expressed his hope that the relief supplies will help Lao people soon overcome the consequences of the natural disasters and stabilize their lives.
As the 37th ASEAN Summit and the Mekong Summit is being held virtually in Hanoi, the activity shows the spirit of ASEAN solidarity and the Mekong cooperation's meaningful significance.
For his part, Lao PM Thongloun Sisoulith sincerely thanked the Party, State, Government, and people of Vietnam for the meaningful donation, saying that in these distress times the aid is a timely support for Lao people in general, and residents in Savannakhet province in particular.
He spoke highly of the cooperation between the two countries in recent years, affirming that the Party, State, Government and people of Laos will always do their best to work with their Vietnamese counterparts to constantly nurture the great Vietnam – Laos friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation, reported PANO.
The Lao PM took the occasion to congratulate Vietnam on its successful assumption of the role as ASEAN Chair in 2020, and wished the 37th ASEAN Summit a great success.
