The Vietnam Festival in Japan is part of the campaign to promote the image of Vietnam in Japan, thereby contributing to enhancing Japanese understanding of Vietnam.

The event has opened in Tokyo, with the participation of many high-ranking officials in the Government and National Assembly of Japan, along with a large number of people of the two countries.
The festival features traditional dishes and art performances, with visitors required to wear masks and have their body temperatures checked at the entrance.
This is the first large-scale festival in Tokyo since the city was added to the list of programs "Go To Travel" of the Government of Japan.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam, Head of the organizing committee, said that this festival was held in response to the calls of "Go to Travel" and "Go to Eat" by the Government of Japan, and showed that Vietnam supported Japan to successfully organize the Tokyo Olympic Games next year.
For his part, Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Eiichiro Washio said that this year, due to the impact of COVID-19, travel between the two countries is no longer as favorable as in previous years. Therefore, the Vietnam Festival in Japan is an opportunity for people of the two countries to interact with each other.
Besides, Deputy Minister Washio also affirmed the determination of the Japanese Government to defeat the pandemic and successfully organize the Tokyo Olympics.
He highlighted growing Vietnam – Japan relations across many political and socio-economic fields, mentioning Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide’s visit to Vietnam last month in his first overseas trip since taking office.
Japanese State Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Hideki Miyauchi considered the festival a good chance for gastronomic exchange. He unveiled that Japan wants to export mandarin to Vietnam and import Vietnamese dried longan and lychee./.
