On March 28, 1951, 10 months after the Youth Volunteer Force was born, Uncle Ho visited the Youth Volunteer Unit 312 on duty at Na Cu Bridge, Bach Thong District, Bac Kan Province. During the visit, he read four famous lines of poetry for the Vietnamese Youth Volunteers:

“There is no hard work at all

The only fear is inconsistent mind

Tunneling a mountain or filling up a sea

Setting our mind we will surely do…”

Addressing the anniversary, Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee Commission of Mass Mobilization confirmed that Uncle Ho’s poem was not only a driving force for and confidence in youngsters, but also for every class of people. “The spirit of ‘There is no hard work” and “Setting our mind we will surely do” will forever be an eternal flame for Vietnamese young generations,” he said.

She expressed her hope that the young generation would promote Uncle Ho’s teachings as well as the precious generations’ tradition to make important contributions to socio-economic development.

On this occasion, the organizing committee presented 20 charity houses for disadvantaged former volunteers across 19 localities with a capital of VND1 billion; assisted the Association of Former Youth Volunteers in the 7 provinces of Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang and Vinh Phuc with VND220 million; provided 70 presents to disadvantaged pupils gaining excellent academic results; and presented school-yards, playgrounds and water filtering machines to secondary and primary school pupils./.
