Lao media continues to spotlight Vietnam's elections

The Lao news agency (KPL) ran an article on its front page on May 26 entitled “Congratulations on the success of Vietnam’s elections of deputies to the NA and People’s Councils”.

The article said that on May 23, Vietnamese people used their democratic right to elect deputies to the NA and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure in the context of Vietnam having reaped great socio-economic achievements and improved the lives of its people in the 35 years of renewal.

It noted that the election is an important political event of Vietnam, taking place after the success of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The agency stated that voters used their rights to choose qualified candidates representing the Vietnamese people in the NA and People’s Councils, contributing to perfecting the law-governed state under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Participation in the election was not only the exercise of democratic rights but also the responsibility of citizens towards the destiny of the country and in order to elect their representatives who will decide upon the important issues of the country, the agency said.

According to the agency, the Party, State and people of Laos would like to congratulate the success of the election of Vietnam which will contribute to building and perfecting the law-governed socialist state of the people, by the people, and for the people.

In addition, the success of the election also consolidates the people's trust in the Party, the State and the socialist regime of Vietnam and is the basis for success in the cause of national construction and development under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, according to the newspaper.

The Pasaxon - the newspaper of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, also reported on the general election, saying the high turnout rate expressed the high sense of responsibility of Vietnamese voters and their confidence in the election.

The newspaper also cited a speech by NA Secretary General, Chairman of the NA Office and Chief of the National Election Council Office, Bui Van Cuong, about the election’s atmosphere and the organisation of the election, particularly the upholding of safety standards amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic./.
