The gifts distributed to each household included 20 kg of rice, 2 boxes of noodles, dry provisions, mosquito nets, medical masks and antiseptic liquid to help the local people get through immediate difficulties.
Mr. Sim Chy, Chairman of the Khmer-Vietnam Association, said that 27 houses have completely collapsed and 9 other houses are damaged and at risk of collapsing. Dozens of families have lost their houses, properties, and also their land because it falls into the river. The Khmer-Vietnam Association can only support people with food and some essential items in the short term. In the long term, the association hopes to mobilize other resources to support the people to rent land and have a stable place to rebuild their lives.
The landslide left dozens of families homeless on the night of May 23. Right after the incident, the local government promptly assisted the people to move their belongings and evacuate to a safe place.
According to the local households, this is the third landslide in nearly 15 years, directly affecting the lives of more than 100 households there./.
