At the working session, Director of the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs Vu Thu Ha reported that all preparations for the upcoming elections have been carried out in line with the law and in a timely manner.

All-level VFF’s committees have jointly organized meetings between election candidates and voters, she said.

As of May 14, all 49 candidates running for seats in the 15th National Assembly of Hanoi finished meeting with local voters as well as presenting their action plans if selected.

Meanwhile, 160 candidates for the election of deputies to the municipal People’s Council and 1,054 others for People’s Council at district level, tenure 2021-2026, will complete their meetings on May 17.

Especially, the municipal Election Committee has issued guiding documents on fighting COVID-19 at polling stations. 

The city has also made plans to hold the elections safely amid the COVID-19 outbreaks.

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan urged the localities to review all preparations, with the focus on dealing with complaints and denunciations related to the elections.

Concluding the meeting, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen asked for stronger communication on right and duty of every citizen in various ways.

The Permanent Deputy Secretary urged local authorities to review the electoral rolls, especially voters in areas under lockdown, to ensure their voting rights. 

She asked the task forces must work hard to ensure safety during the elections./.
