(13th Congress) - The 37th ASEAN Summit and related meetings opened
virtually in Hanoi on November 12.

The virtual summit lasts until November 15.
The final summit during Vietnam’s chairmanship of
ASEAN is a chance for ASEAN to assess the cooperation results for the whole
year, including domestic cooperation and that with partners; and work out
priorities for the next period.

Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu
Trong; Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of ASEAN 2020; National
Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; together with international
organizations; and leaders of Vietnamese ministries and agencies attended the
opening ceremony.

Ambassadors and representatives from international
organizations in Hanoi, as well as Vietnamese representatives, attend the
summit.

In his welcome remarks, Party General Secretary and
State President Trong said in 2020, ASEAN member countries have shown their
will, resolve and efforts to overcome a range of difficulties and challenges.
