(13th Congress) - Vietnam – Lao two-way trade turnover in March and in the first quarter of 2021 saw an impressive increase, according to statistics of the Vietnam General Department of Customs.

In March, trade turnover between the two countries reached more than 127.9 million USD, a year-on-year rise of 31.1%, including over 62.6 million USD worth of exports of Vietnam to Laos and 65.5 million USD of imports from Laos.
The main items Vietnam exported to Laos are: Iron and steel of all kinds, steel products, means of transport and spare parts, while Vietnam mainly imported from Laos items such as wood and wooden products, vegetables, and rubber.
Totalling the first quarter, the two-way trade turnover reached over 338.5 million USD, a year-on-year rise of 22.5%. Of this, exports were valued at 159.09 million USD, up 6.4% over the same period last year, and imports reached 178.97 million USD, up 41.7%.
Currently, due to widespread COVID-19 outbreaks in Asia and other countries, border trade is strictly controlled to avoid the spread of the epidemic./.
