The contest is held annually for pupils and students nationwide to arouse passion for reading among teenagers and children, thereby encouraging and promoting the reading movement among the young generation, contributing to the development of reading culture at schools and in the community. This is an important factor to build the spiritual foundation of society.

The contest is open to students of all types of education, including students with visual impairments.

The preliminary round is held in provinces, cities, Vietnam Blind Association, universities, institutes andVietnam Education Publishing House, from February to the end of July.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has sent notices to the provincial Departments of Culture, the Vietnam Blind Association, universities, institutes and the Education Publishing House to develop the plan for the preliminary round.

According to the Head of the Library Department Pham Quoc Hung, the contest affirms the position, role and good values of the reading culture in enhancing the capacity of Vietnamese people, especially students, in accessing information and knowledge. He said that the reading culture will contribute to improving people's knowledge, thinking, creative ability, fostering personality and soul, increasing the sense of law observance, forming a healthy lifestyle for the generation, and promoting the building of a learning society./.
