Quang Tri province to be provided 80 billion VND for flood and storm recovery

The information was released by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri province on November 17. 

So far, the province has received over 40 billion VND. 

In the two months of October and November, Quang Tri province suffered 6 consecutive floods and 2 big storms. Storms and floods have affected all aspects of the economy and society, making people's lives more difficult than ever. Many schools have to shut down for a long time. Traffic was blocked, landslides divided many regions. Hundreds of public works were destroyed by storms and floods. Thousands of houses were inundated with water or their roofs blown off and collapsed. Food was washed away, trees and crops were damaged.

In order to ease the difficulties of the people of Quang Tri province, donors, units, organizations and individuals have donated, supported and presented gifts to people affected by natural disasters over the past time.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri province has received and handed over more than 110,000 gifts from units to the affected people and allocated money to support local authorities and people to promptly repair damages.

Mr. Dao Manh Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri province, said that the committee is urgently documenting the actual needs of the people and the cost of repairing works in localities to provide timely support.

Currently, the support work focuses on main tasks such as: giving plants and seeds to people to resume production; support for repairing collapsed and unroofed houses; and repairing essential works such as schools, clinics, bridges, irrigation and markets damaged by floods and storms./.
