Over the past five years, People’s Councils at all levels have made every effort to make positive changes in operation and improve their effectiveness and efficiency, deserving to be the local state power body which represents the will, aspirations and right to mastery of the local people.

The councils have made great contributions to the capital’s overall development over the past time.

Speaking at the event, NA Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty applauded efforts of all-level People’s Councils to accomplish the missions during the 2016-2021 tenure.

In the coming time, he urged the councils in collaboration with the municipal People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Hanoi committee to successfully organize the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure.

Mr. Ty requested the councils and local authorities to effectively realize the dual tasks of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and fulfilling all socio-economic targets as well as political missions set for 2021.

Besides, the NA leader requested the municipal People’s Council to carry out the NA’s resolution on piloting the urban administration model in Hanoi, while continuing to increasing the quality and efficiency of the council's operations in accordance to the law.

The council’s important task is to join hands for the successful organization of the upcoming elections in a democratic manner, said Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan.

On the occasion, the Hanoi People’s Council praised 179 collectives and 783 individuals for their significant contribution to the development of the capital./.
