International media highlights importance of 13th National Party Congress

The channelnewsasia.com website reported the opening session of the 13th National Party Congress. Accordingly, Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong presented the Report of the Party Central Committee (term 12) on Documents submitted to the 13th National Party Congress before 1,587 delegates.

Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed the outstanding economic development and the COVID-19 pandemic prevention are Vietnam’s great achievements over the past year.

The website quoted General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong as saying that Vietnam has developed rapidly and steadily, reinforcing the people’s confidence in the Party, State and the socialist regime.

On the same day, Thailand’s Bangkok Post website also highlighted Vietnam’s economic achievements in 2020. 

The newspaper quoted Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong, highlighting Vietnam's GDP growth of 2.91% last year, in a region where many countries experienced economic slowdowns.

According to the Bangkok Post, Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that Vietnam is known as a bright spot for successfully curbing the COVID-19 pandemic in parallel with economic recovery and development.

Meanwhile, the US Washington Post quoted Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong as pointing out that globalization and global integration are on the right track, but facing the rise of nationalism, strategic competition and economic competition.

The Malaysia’s Star newspaper, citing Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s speech at the opening of the congress, said that the event took place in the context that Vietnam was facing many intertwined opportunities and challenges, and new strategic issues which need to be addressed./.
